Rehoboth's Men's Group welcomes all brothers in Christ. During the year, there are several events the men of Rehoboth organize and assist with and you are welcome to participate in any or all events. Some events are weekly, some monthly and some are annual fundraisers which take more planning, and volunteers are always needed during events.
WEEKLY:
Panera Bread Prayer Group - Several of our church men gather every Wednesday morning 7:45 a.m. for breakfast or coffee at Panera Bread in Gallatin. We take prayer requests and discuss The Upper Room weekly devotions. All men are welcome to attend when they can!
MONTHLY:
Men’s First Saturday Fellowship - Monthly Men's Breakfast starts at 8 a.m. in our Fellowship Hall. We ask for prayer requests, plan and discuss upcoming events we support at RUMC, and enjoy great food and fellowship.
Monthly Men's Group led by Pastor Sean
Pastor Sean’s Men's Group meets monthly at 6:30 pm on a Wednesday evening at Garcia's Mexican Restaurant. The dates vary and the group usually sets its next meeting time during their current meeting. The meeting begins with a time of social interaction and then transitions into a discussion of a topic brought to the group by Pastor Sean that connects our faith and what it means to be a male, father, husband etc. The topics vary month to month depending on what is going on in the life of the group, community, church and the world. For information on the next meeting, contact Pastor Sean Stanfield (sean.stanfield@twk.umc)
ANNUAL EVENTS:
March - Along with the Mens’ group, the ladies groups helped launch our "First Annual Fish Fry" in 2018 to raise funds for the worldwide hunger relief organization, "Rise Against Hunger" held every November.
July - Summer weather brings our annual "Grill Night" in the church pavillion. All men are invited and asked to bring a friend. Everyone grills their favorite steak, chicken or fish. Our men's group provide the grills, all the fixin's, salads, potatoes and beverages. We start grilling outside around 5:30 p.m. and enjoy our food together around 6 p.m. inside at Fellowship Hall. It's always a great time together and gives us an opportunity to make new friends.
August - Men’s annual catered "Dinner & Speaker" program starts around 6:30p.m. This event is open to everyone in the church who are interested in enjoying good food and the program that follows. Speaker TBD.
September - Annual Men’s BBQ. Our group organizes this event several months prior and it's always well received by the Community we serve. We sell BBQ Pulled Pork and half-chickens as well as pork by the pound and whole butts. Our Lunch Plates are always delcious with a choice of pork or chicken and several sides. There is quite a bit of activity during the week before we actually smoke the butts. We recruit church members to help and our ladies always astound us with their delicious desserts! This is a church-wide event held to incluce the community and ticket sales begin early September. Past proceeds from this fundraiser are distributed to multiple recipients including: End Slavery Tennessee; Grace Place; Habitat for Humanity; Shalom Zone; Vena Stuart Elementary School (Gallatin); Salvia; Hatching Hope; and L.I.F.T. (Rehoboth Ladies In Fellowship Together).
October - Our Annual Men’s Retreat is held at Barren River State Park, Scottsville, Kentucky. Some of the activities we enjoy together are golf, fishing, hiking, and relaxing during the day at the Park on Friday and then we meet as a group for dinner at 5:30 p.m. After dinner we meet with our facilitator to kick off our retreat program. On Saturday we meet for an early breakfast, then again with our group to continue our discussions and conclude by noon to return home. This is always a highlight of the year. Along with great fellowship and a time to reflect, we enjoy the peak colors of the fall foliage in a incredible setting and appreciate God's hand in the beauty.
November - We volunteer to pack meals for "Rise Against Hunger" which is held the first Saturday in November. This is a church-wide event open to the public and over 20,000 nutritious meals are packed. If interested, you can watch for details on how to sign up online to volunteer for this great event.
